Dental Implants Essex

A dental implant is made of titanium, one of the few metals to be accepted readily by the body and to possess osseointegration properties. This means that bone grows around, and attaches itself to the metal.

The dental implant, which acts as an artificial root, is carefully placed in your jaw by a dental implant surgeon, after which the process of osseointegration begins. In this way, the implant becomes part of your mouth, secured firmly within the bone of your jaw. A crown or other dental appliance is then specially designed and manufactured to match the neighbouring teeth, before being attached to the implant. The result is a tooth which is securely anchored within your jaw, looking, feeling and behaving just like natural teeth.

Dental Implant Treatment Explained

If you are missing teeth and currently wear a full or partial denture, opting for implant-retained dentures could help permanently restore your smile. Put simply, a dental implant replaces the root of your missing tooth, allowing a fixed replacement tooth to be attached to it.

With careful and bespoke implant placement, the replacement tooth will look and feel totally authentic.

Dental implants cost Essex

The cost of dental implants treatment is dependent on the patient and what they’d like to achieve.

It’s also affected by their current oral health. For example, if a patient has failing teeth or gum disease, they will need prior treatment to correct this, which will be an additional cost. However, if you have healthy gums, this won’t be needed.

Depending on how many replacement teeth are needed and the condition of the natural tooth root, we can organise a treatment plan that works for you.

Replacing Missing Teeth with Dental Implants in Essex

Perhaps you, like many other people who suffer from tooth loss, feel that the condition has seriously affected your confidence and quality of life. Dental implant treatments can restore these, allowing you once again to smile freely, enjoy those difficult-to-eat foods and avoid the drudgery of dentures.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are dental implants painful?

Whilst dental implants will look and feel natural once they are in situ and the area has healed, the procedure itself is quite an invasive one. That’s why our team put your comfort at the heart of all we do, offering a range of options to help you feel relaxed and pain-free during all your appointments with us.

Our specialist sedation team, Philip, Sanjay and Sarita are experts in what they do and are confident supporting nervous and phobic patients. Together, we will ensure you feel no pain when receiving your dental implants.

Is it easy to maintain dental implants?

Yes, surprisingly so! Many of our patients worry about how easily it will be to keep their new smile looking great for the years to come, but the good news is that it is just as easy as looking after your own natural teeth.

Regular brushing, flossing and avoiding things like smoking and too much caffeine – as well as seeing your dentist regularly, will help to keep your new dental implants looking as good as the day you got them.

Am I restricted with what I can eat or drink?

Many of our patients tell us that eating was difficult before their implants, with many saying they avoided eating out and couldn’t enjoy a wide and varied diet. The good news is that with dental implants, you’re free to eat and drink whatever you like. It’s worth noting, of course, that drinking things like coffee and red wine which can stain teeth may impact the appearance of yours over time but enjoying these things in moderation is completely safe to do.

How long does it take to recover from the dental implant procedure?

Depending on the type of dental implants you opt for, the procedure can take several months to complete, and due to the invasive nature of it – it can take a while to fully recover. That being said, our team go out of our way to ensure you’re comfort during every stage of the process, including medications where necessary so you feel no pain during the recovery.

Typically, you can expect a full recovery to take anywhere between 4 and 6 months, but your dentist will be able to give you a clearer idea of timescales during your appointments.
